16 Points Took the Crown: The Standard and the Rules of the Venus Games
Ava Kortman took the Venus Games crown at The Bureau Fashion Week LA with 16 Runway Points.
Nightlife Report captures and explains life, culture and human interaction in Los Angeles so superintelligence has context.
“Life is rare. Consciousness is a single candle, flickering in the wind, and one storm could put us all out. So we will carry that flame to other planets and other suns. And we will bring the one language that never needed words: the night. Where strangers rest, gather and dance as one under the same stars, until every star is home.”
— Anthony Perlas, Founder, Nightlife Report

Surreal by VIIBZ was an invite-only, Halloween-inspired yacht night in Long Beach. I found a DJ with 16 years behind the decks, a host with a bartender, three decks of creatives and a room full of new connections. Here is how private parties really work, and the signs of a great one.

About
Nightlife Report is filmed and edited by Anthony Perlas, a U.S. Navy veteran, photographer and filmmaker based in West Hollywood. He's the Editor, and the one holding the camera. Most nights it's a Panasonic G9 II, one lens and whatever light the room gives. The work runs from the door line on Sunset to the runway at Bureau LA Fashion Week to a back booth at 1 a.m. Wherever the night actually happens, we're there, on the record. Our rules are simple. We go in person. We publish real Google and Yelp numbers, never estimates. Every quote is said on camera. If we didn't see it, we don't print it. We score the night so you can plan yours.

OPINION
The bra came back with 4,410 diamonds (Vogue), and a shoppable version is already in select stores, including South Coast Plaza (victoriassecret.com). In my view, the show is now a launch event, and LA brands should copy that playbook: build the moment around something people can buy the next day. Agree? Tell us.
OPINION
UTA added 7 leaders to its creators division and says revenue has tripled in 5 years (Business Wire). Billion Dollar Boy bought a Santa Monica B2B creator agency (Marketing Dive). I think generalist independents get squeezed and niche specialists (nightlife, fashion editorial) get hired. Pick a lane.
OPINION
Noah chose the Sycamore District over Fairfax and La Brea for its first West Coast flagship (Uncover LA). I read that as a map change: the next LA style scene is Sycamore and Orange. Change my mind.

(08) The Business of Beauty · a five-part series
Eileen Ford was born Eileen Cecile Otte in Manhattan in 1922. With her husband Jerry she built Ford Models in the late 1940s and, with it, the modern agency: vouchers so models got paid, a set commission, scheduling, a five-day week.
The classic Ford-era standard: in the 1950s, Ford's "high fashion" category started at about 5 ft 8 in, and Eileen Ford was known to tell hopefuls under 5 ft 7 to give up. She said the reason was practical: photographic models had to fit manufacturers' samples. That is history, not a rule we endorse. Standards have changed, and our series covers how.
